Thesis in the Department of Islamic Family Law, Faculty of Sharia, Abdurrahman Wahid Islamic University, Pekalongan. Thesis Advisor: Dr. Mubarok, Lc., M.S.I. Waqf is an instrument that can provide benefits to the welfare of the community when managed well and invested to create productive waqf. The management of waqf is carried out by trustees (nazirs), who can come from the government or the general public. The significant role of the nazirs in managing waqf assets makes them a primary key to the development of productive waqf management. Therefore, the nazirs need to have adequate abilities in managing and developing waqf assets to provide optimal benefits for the general welfare. The purpose of this research is to explore the understanding of nazirs in Sukasari Sub-District, Subang Regency, regarding productive waqf land management, analyze the management of mosque waqf lands in Sukasari Sub-District, and identify challenges faced in productive waqf management. This study is a field research using a qualitative approach to analyze the phenomenon of mosque waqf in Sukasari Sub-District, Subang Regency. Data is obtained through interviews with nazirs, religious leaders, and relevant parties, as well as secondary data sources such as endowment guidebooks, related waqf literature, and official documents. Data collection techniques include observation, structured interviews, and documentation, and data analysis is carried out through information reduction, data presentation, and verification to draw conclusions. The nazirs of Sukasari Sub-District, Subang Regency, share similar views regarding productive waqf management. Several mosques, such as Al-Hidayah Mosque, Nurul Huda Mosque, and Al-Hidayah Bugel Mosque, have successfully managed waqf well, both individually and in organizational forms. Nevertheless, there are several challenges that need to be addressed, such as incomplete waqf administration, the need to enhance the productivity of waqf asset management, and a lack of understanding about the scope of waqf as well as professional competence in management. Additionally, limited resources, administrative issues, village locations, low returns from waqf assets, and a lack of planning and development strategies also serve as obstacles.
