Abstract

The BBC Learning English Channel is a potentially helpful tool in EFL courses because it offers audio and video resources specifically designed for English language learners. This study examines how students feel about learning listening skills with BBC Learning English. This study aims to reveal students' perceptions when using BBC Learning English including several challenges faced by students, in which every student has different perceptions and difficulties when using this channel in practicing listening. The research used a case study as a reseach desaign with data collection techniques through interviews with five 8th semester English language education students at an university in Pekalongan. the data were collected through semi-structured interviews involving 5 (five) students who had participated in listening classes.Several findings show that using the BBC Learning English YouTube channel as authentic content is successful and aids the teacher in enhancing students' listening abilities. Additionally, through out the student interviews, the students expressed a favorable opinion on the use of the BBC YouTube Channel as authentic content. They stated that using the BBC Learning English YouTube channel to learn listening might help students to improve their listening skill especially in ( accent, pronunciation, and vocabulary), animations content on BBC Learning English can help students understand the listening materials better, BBC Learning English has various EFL Content, and content about lifestyle can make students more enjoyfulin listening practice.On the other hand, the researcher also found the negative perception such as the speaker’s voice is too fast, native speakers on BBC Learning English has different accents,and videos content on BBC use a formal language. The participants prefer use the other channel to listening.
