Abstract

Instructional materials play a crucial role in supporting English language learning at the junior high school level. Among these materials, student worksheets (Lembar Kerja Siswa) developed by Pekalongan English Subject Teache Forum are widely used as supplementary teaching resources. However, locally produced worksheets are rarely evaluated using established theoretical frameworks, which raises questions regarding their instructional quality. This study aims to analyze a Grade VII English worksheet published by MGMP Pekalongan based on Greene and Petty’s criteria for high-quality textbooks. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design using content analysis. The worksheet was examined according to ten characteristics proposed by Greene and Petty, including clarity of concept, curriculum relevance, student motivation, illustrative support, and respect for individual differences. The findings are expected to reveal the extent to which the worksheet reflects the characteristics of high-quality instructional materials and to provide insights for material improvement. This study contributes theoretically to instructional material evaluation and practically to the development of locally produced English learning.
