Abstract

The value of Indonesian cultural values is increasingly displaced by cultural shifts, due to the lack of attention to the cultivation of values from an early age. Textbooks play an important role in encouraging good learning achievement in students. Textbooks are believed to contain not only learning materials, but also moral values that can shape their personalities. This study aims to explore the Indonesian cultural values implied in the Buku Bahasa Inggris Think Globally Act Locally Kelas IX for Junior High School students. This descriptive study uses content analysis to examine what Indonesian cultural values are inserted in the Buku Bahasa Inggris Think Globally Act Locally based on Koentjaraningrat's thoughts. The results of this research founded the following values: Mutual help in community, Mutual help among individuals, Brotherhood, humanity, and tolerance. Overall, these results will help reinforce the importance of instilling Indonesian cultural values in children through learning through books.
