Abstract

This research investigates the use of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in teaching English vocabulary to young learners. This research uses a qualitative research approach, using a case study design to explore the implementation of TPR in the elementary school environment. Data collection methods include classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with teachers. Findings indicate that the application of TPR in vocabulary teaching is effective in engaging young learners and facilitating active participation through physical activity. However, there were several challenges that emerged during the process. Teachers report difficulties such as students' lack of vocabulary. Additionally, some students have difficulty understanding and following physical instructions, so teachers must frequently adjust their approach. Despite these obstacles, teachers recognize the benefits of TPR in improving vocabulary retention and making the learning experience more enjoyable for students.
